It Happened at the World's Fair is the twenty-fifth album by FTD. It contains the original 1963 album remastered and 14 alternate takes recorded on August 30 and September 22, 1962 at Radio Recorders Studio B in Hollywood. The CD is currently out of print on the label.

Originally, It Happened at the World's Fair was Elvis' twelfth film and eleventh soundtrack album, as well as his 24th LP for RCA.

Ten songs were considered for production, with "One Broken Heart for Sale" and "They Remind Me Too Much of You" chosen as singles to promote it. Despite reaching number 11 on the charts, the single was not well received and stalled at number 53, becoming Elvis' first to fail to reach the Top 5. The soundtrack LP, on the other hand, fared much better, reaching number 4.

FTD delivers remastered material and truly in "Living Stereo" on its 2003 album version, a promise that RCA made on the cover of its originals but did not always deliver. The label produced a stereo version of the tapes with a greater sense of spacing, which allowed all the artists involved in the soundtrack to be heard for the first time with the same brilliance as Elvis' voice.

As always, the package includes a spectacular booklet full of color photos, rarities and memorabilia.

Below is a review of the content available on the CD.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- TRACKS 1-10. ORIGINAL ALBUM: For more info, click here.

- 11. One Broken Heart For Sale (Takes 2, 3, 1): It's nice to hear the band working on this Otis Blackwell song. It confirms that the extra verse recorded for the movie version ("Hey Cupid, where are you?") was cut from the recording rather than edited for the single. Take 3 falls apart after 40 seconds, with Elvis sounding puzzled and asking for a section of the instrumentals to be played again so he can hear something that's bothering him.
Take 1 is the Movie Version, longer and more laid-back. "That's a killer", says engineer Dave Weichman at the end.

- 12. They Remind Me Too Much of You (Take 1): Here we have Don Robertson's exquisite music - and with the composer playing the piano. Take 1 is perfect, but RCA would have put Take 9 as the Master. The Hammond organ in the background doesn't get in the way, but it doesn't contribute anything either.

- 13. I'm Falling in Love Tonight (Takes 2, 3, 4, 1): Elvis has trouble counting in takes 2, 3 and 4, always coming in early. After some laughter, the session continues with an excellent complete rendition, which is actually take 1 placed in a different position on this CD release. The Master would be Take 8, the last of the attempts.

- 14. Beyond the Bend (Takes 1, 2): Surprisingly enjoyable for the short song it is. Take 2 has a slightly slower tempo and better groove than the Master (Take 4). There's also some great studio interaction with Elvis laughing about singing the wrong lyrics.

- 15. Cotton Candy Land (Takes 1, 2, 4):It's a simple soundtrack song, but Elvis still works hard. At the beginning of take 1, he teases the song's tempo and context: "The tempo is too slow, fellas. This guy'll never come at this rate." Take 4 is very similar to the Master (Take 5) and ends with Elvis vocalizing "Torna a Sorriento".

- 16. How Would You Loke to Be (Take 2): With songs like this, you really want to hear Elvis say, "Why am I singing this crap? Let's rock it out!" Unfortunately, he never did, and as everyone says, he remained totally professional no matter what they asked him to record. In short, the take is very close to the Master (Take 6).

- 17. They Remind Me Too Much of You (Take 4): Take 4 has a very different feel to the others, without the organ and with the guitars louder in the mix, along with a delightfully light piano.

- 18. Beyond the Bend (Take 3): Elvis again screws the lyrics in the same place as in take 2 and asks Weichman for another chance.

- 19. Take Me to the Fair (Takes 4-7): Another light soundtrack song, but here you can spy Elvis in the studio. He sings the guitar part explaining, "Stay on that, so I can match it." He then laughs saying, "And then we start the rhythm, hot diggity!" Take 6 falls apart in the first second, with everyone in the studio laughing delightedly.

- 20. I'm Falling in Love Tonight (Take 6): Standard rendition, almost the same as the Master.

- 21. They Remind Me Too Much of You (Takes 6, 7): Elvis is clearly enjoying the session as he laughs before an absolutely beautiful take 7. Although Radio Recorders doesn’t have the ambience of Studio B in Nashville, the take shows Elvis’ vocals with amazing presence and you can hear every breath. The backing vocals from The Mello Men are also perfect.

- 22. Relax (Takes 5, 6, 7): These takes are different in that they are binaural, with Elvis' voice only on the left channel. At the beginning, Elvis tells D.J. Fontana to follow his downbeat and there are some great finger snaps on the right channel only. Elvis agrees that take 5 is too slow, saying, "It was a little slow on the finger snaps rhythm."

- 23. Happy Ending (Takes 4, 5, 6): The sound here is binaural too. It's fun to hear Elvis mess up his lyrics and get exasperated. The clarity of the mix also means you can hear Elvis giving it his all on a song as light as this. He completes take 6, but doesn't seem to realize he messed up most of the lyrics.

- 24. Take Me to the Fair (October Master from acetate):
Finally, we get a rough acetate sound from the preliminary version of the film, with ukulele added in. In the production itself, the band and The Jordanaires appear to have been removed.
