"Spinout / All That I Am" (Sept. 13, 1966)
Spinout is Elvis's twenty-second soundtrack album, his 23rd LP for RCA, and his 50th audiophonic release (including singles and EPs). Recorded at Radio Recorders between February and June 1966, it contains the complete soundtrack to the film of the same year, plus some extras.
By early 1966, RCA executives and the Colonel had come to the same conclusion: They could no longer expect that releasing only soundtracks and outtakes from recording sessions would be as successful as it had been in the past. Popular music was changing in the mid-1960s, and with the dominance of The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and many others, Elvis was no longer the king of the market. Soundtrack sales were plummeting, demanding fewer and fewer units and peaking at the lower end of the charts.
Yet the "Spinout" sessions still adhered to the standard formula of the previous four years. Nine songs were recorded for the soundtrack, all of which appeared in the film for the first time. Most of the songs were derived from the standard set of songwriters, with their publishing rights assigned to Elvis Presley Music and Gladys Music, Elvis and the Colonel's companies. Only one song ("Stop, Look and Listen") had been previously recorded by other artists.
Two songs were released as singles a month before the film's release, the title track with "All That I Am" on the B-side. Both sides failed to reach the Top 40 on the charts, peaking at #41 and #42.
Recognizing changing public tastes, three additional tracks of a contemporary nature were added as a "special bonus" to bring the album to a more acceptable LP length.
Recorded at RCA Studio B in Nashville, Tennessee, during the sessions for his second Gospel album, How Great Thou Art, the R&B hit "Down in the Alley" joined Bob Dylan's original hit "Tomorrow is a Long Time" (one of the only songs not to have its rights reverted to Elvis and Parker) and Don Ho's hit "I'll Remember You", reflecting Presley's love of Hawaii and its culture, to show that he could still adapt to the times. But even with these additions, the album charted only slightly better than its 1966 predecessors—a measly 18th.

Following the list of soundtracks reworked by FTD, 2004 saw "Spinout" hit the market in its new version. The label did a very welcome remix of the LP's Masters and tried to bring in rare extras or ones that were not available on several other bootleg releases. The main improvement is in "Adam and Evil", never before heard in the quality achieved by FTD.
Closing the work, FTD brings one of its best booklets to that time, with 12 pages full of rare behind-the-scenes and publicity photos, as well as some images from the soundtrack's recording sessions.
The work includes the following tracks:
