Elvis For Everyone! is Elvis's nineteenth LP, his sixth compilation and his 46th audiophonic work (including singles and EPs). The album covers songs recorded over a ten-year period, from 1954 to 1964, five of which were previously unreleased on LP and only released in other formats.

Due to Parker's insistence that Elvis concentrate solely on recording his film soundtracks, after "Fun in Acapulco" had sold extremely well, the late May 1963 sessions that would produce a new independent LP were set aside. The 14 songs conceived on those three days in May ended up being spread across several LPs, EPs and singles to at least capture part of the value used to produce them, but Elvis' sales were no longer the same as they had been since his last independent LP in 1962, "Pot Luck With Elvis" and the 1963 compilation "Elvis' Golden Records, Volume 3".

To compete with Beatlemania and the British Invasion that had been occurring in the US since 1964, RCA invented the concept of the "Anniversary Album" to celebrate Elvis' tenth year with the label, releasing the compilation "Elvis For Everyone!". The album cover depicts Presley standing next to the label's trademark dog Nipper, sitting on top of a cash register. Background photos featured the covers of Elvis' LPs from the label and the cards with the songs on the album had photos from his entire career.

Devoid of new material, RCA assembled the album with tracks unused from the Sun Records years, hoping to attract a wider audience for the rarities. The previously unreleased "Your Cheatin' Heart" opens side A, which also features the hitherto unknown "Finders Keepers, Losers Weepers". The ballad "Tomorrow Night" was heard for the first time, but had overdubs added for its release on this album; it would not be officially issued in its original 1954 form until "The Complete Sun Sessions" compilation in 1987.

Originally, RCA had intended to include the previously unreleased Sun Records song "Tennessee Saturday Night", but removed it from the album and replaced it with "Tomorrow Night". Whatever the reason for this, it is known that the record company still has at least two takes of "Tennessee..." on hand. "Memphis Tennessee", a hit for Chuck Berry in 1959 and also previously unreleased by Elvis, closes side A of the LP.

Of the six songs on side B, three were previously unreleased ("For the Millionth and the Last Time", "I Met Her Today" and "When it Rains, it Really Pours"), but failed to attract an audience. "Santa Lucia", from "Viva Las Vegas", received overdubs and an extended version on this album; the original short version would only appear on the CD "Viva LasVegas", in 2010. "When it Rains, it Really Pours" from 1957, a re-recording of a Sun track from two years earlier, closes the compilation.

With its compilation format of mostly unissued leftovers from various sessions and its rather short duration, this album created the initial concept for the budget LPs released on RCA's Camden and Pickwood labels between 1969 and 1976. Although it remained among the top ten on the 1965 LP chart, this was Elvis's first album to sell fewer than 300,000 copies during that decade.

In 2014, "Elvis For Everyone!" was reissued by the Follow That Dream label in a special 2-CD edition that contained tracks from the original album along with numerous alternate takes.
