Girls! Girls! Girls! is Elvis' eleventh soundtrack album and his 37th LP for RCA. It features all the songs heard in the film of the same name, recorded between March 26 and May 23, 1962 at Radio Recorders in Hollywood.

As sales of soundtrack albums outpaced those of regular albums (Blue Hawaii outselling Pot Luck With Elvis ten to one, for example) Elvis found himself firmly entrenched in songs designed for a light entertainment formula with beautiful scenery and girls galore. With this discrepancy in sales, soundtracks became the focus.

Sixteen songs were recorded at the sessions in March, thirteen of which were used for this soundtrack. Banished from the kingdom after fighting with the Colonel, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller could now only be recorded by Elvis if the songs had already been written for someone else, as was the case with the title track, which had been a hit for The Coasters in 1961 , before being adapted for the film. This song and two others, "Return to Sender" and "Because of Love", would become the best known from the score.

The tracks "Return to Sender" and "Where do You Come From" were issued on both sides of a single on October 2, 1962, nearly a month before the release of the soundtrack LP and nearly two months before the movie was to be released to theaters. "Return to Sender" became a substantial hit for Elvis, reaching number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the B-side reached only number 99.

The Follow That Dream (FTD) label first released an expanded version of the album in 2007, including alternate takes and songs recorded but not used for the soundtrack, and made the same material available on a double LP in 2021.

The songs sung by Stella Stevens in the film - "Never Let Me Go", "The Nearness of You" and "Baby Baby, Baby" - were actually recorded by singer Gilda Maiken and have not yet been commercialized.

Seeking to please vinyl fans, FTD decided to release a double LP on the soundtrack and its sessions almost 14 years after the original CD.
