Elvis' Gold Records - Volume 2 ou 50.000.000 Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong - Elvis Gold Records, Vol. 2 is Elvis Presley's fourth RCA compilation.
With songs recorded over a period of nearly a year and a half between February 1957 and June 1958, the record sought to feature both sides of five singles released during 1958 and 1959, as well as its multi-award winning predecessor Elvis' Golden Records (6x Platinum) had done with the 1956 and 1957 singles. Of the ten songs, two had reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and another six reached the Top 10.
The title of this album is shown on the original record labels as "Elvis' Gold Records, Vol. 2", with a comma and abbreviation for "volume", but on the cover, it appears as "Elvis' Gold Records - Volume 2". The phrase "50,000,000 Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong" does not appear on labels, and it is the title of the records - not the covers - that is usually preferred when there is conflicting information on the albums. Therefore, the phrase was not part of the original title.
It was between 1959 and 1961, but no later than 1962, that RCA Victor added the phrase to the labels of some mono records and to newly released LPs in "electronically reprocessed stereo"; it appears almost exclusively on records pressed at RCA's Hollywood factory, while the others tend to just use the appropriate title. The phrase was removed from all re-releases in 1968 and was not seen for years until the 1985 CD version, and has remained since. The reason for the switch from "Golden" on the 1958 first compilation LP to "Gold" on this one remains unexplained.
In 1984, RCA reissued the original 10-track CD album with reprocessed stereophonic sound (false stereo), a version that was quickly withdrawn from the market and replaced with the original audio in 1985. The label put the work back in stores in 1997, with an expanded 20-track edition that added classics from 1956 to 1958, including "Hard Headed Woman" and "Playing For Keeps", along with tracks from best-selling EPs such as "Peace In the Valley" (1957) and "Elvis Sings Christmas" Songs" (1957). Several of these songs were hit singles in other countries and were interspersed with the original LP tracks, substantially altering the album's playing order.
Elvis' Gold Records, Vol. 2 reached number 31 on the Billboard Top Pop Albums and was certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as Gold on November 1, 1966 and as Platinum on March 27, 1992 (in the 1950s, a Gold Record was only attributed to a work with certified sales of one million copies in the United States, different from the mere 500 thousand units practiced since the 1990s). FTD reworked the album in 2007.

As always, FTD had problems in bringing extensive and differentiated content from albums released between 1956 and 1959. Thus, the label chose to release as many alternative takes of the songs available along with the "Elvis Sails" EP, with interviews given by Elvis before leaving for Germany. Closing the album, the cover and booklet are well presented with a good selection of memorabilia such as boxes of original tapes and newspaper clippings. There are also many new photos from the February 1957 photoshoot with the Gold Lame Suit. The work includes the following tracks:
